(MoneyNewsWire.Net, February 17, 2015 ) Toledo, OH -- The 45th Annual Power Show Ohio was the site of a seminar designed to provide farm owners and other members of the agricultural community in attendance with information and strategies to help determine the best insulation solutions for specific commercial building applications. The speaker at the event was Jack Kerr of Agri Com Insulation. Kerr has 35 years of experience in the construction industry and is familiar with the different types of structures commonly used in agriculture.
Different types of insulation were discussed and the advantages and disadvantages of each were compared. The focus of the talk was giving participants information so they would be better prepared in choosing the best type insulation for buildings such as pole barns, sheds and other structures commonly used in the farming industry.
Kerr stressed the importance of having a solid understanding of a project before making any hasty decisions. "The most important point to understand is that there isn't one type of insulation that's best for every situation. You need to first consider the area that you're insulating - how it's constructed, its size and also how it will be used. Then you can match the insulation that will be best for that specific situation."
Some types of insulation were discussed that many seemed to be familiar with, such as spray foam, cellulose and fiberglass. But other insulation forms, like SATAC, a special type of cellulose that's sprayed onto surfaces, were also mentioned. But clearly, Kerr's objective was to have the audience consider the importance of asking questions in order to develop a strategy for any insulation project. He even offered a few example questions to consider, including:
'Will the area be exposed to water?' 'Does the area need to be resistant to heat and flames?' 'What type of heating will be used in the area?'
"Without considering the answer to these questions", Kerr added, "people can end up wasting a lot of money. That's why we're educating the community - so they at least understand there are options available."
"I grew up in a farming community," reminisced Kerr, "so I understand what they're up against. We like to help out by sharing some things that we've found have worked well. We deal with these things every day, so this is a chance to come out, share some ideas and makes some new friends."
The scheduled seminar concluded with a Question and Answer session, which provided a chance for attendees to ask about any existing projects they may have or could be considering for the future.
The seminar was part of "Power Show Ohio", an annual a three-day event bringing together people from a wide range of trades and professions. They all have a chance to get "hands-on" with over 500 brands of equipment, all under 212,000 square feet of space.
