(MoneyNewsWire.Net, February 13, 2015 ) Buffalo, NY -- It was reported that six people died early this month due to a commuter train running into a SUV. The Mercedes Sport SUV stopped on the train tracks during an early morning commute. According to the vehicle behind the SUV, traffic was moving along when the SUV consequently stopped on the tracks. While sitting there, the barriers came down as a train began to approach.
The driver of the SUV got out the vehicle and walked to inspect the barriers and then proceeded to get back into her vehicle. As the train approached the vehicle the SUV attempted to drive forwarded but the train plowed and t-boned into the vehicle.
Five people on the train died due to the incident. The driver of the SUV, a 49-year-old mother of three, passed as well. According to reports, the train’s operator followed all emergency protocol. He did deploy the train’s emergency brakes but the train struck the vehicle before the brakes activated.
