(MoneyNewsWire.Net, October 10, 2014 ) London, UK -- Grafting throughout the night, Friday the 26th of September saw the office canteen turned into a cave of confectionery, all of which was then tasted by our eager panel of cake testers.
Raising £179.57 for the worthwhile cause, staff were invited not only to take part in the bake off, but also participate in a casual dress day and join the ‘Wilson Field bake off committee’. Congratulations to Aimee Carrack from our Company Voluntary Arrangement department, who following deliberation of the impartial bake off committee, was judged to be our resident ‘star baker’ amongst her very worthy adversaries. A regular baker, Aimee who organised the event, impressed the judges with her apple and oil cake, which was topped with maple syrup icing and a sell-out amongst the office. Aimee is also representing Wilson Field in October at this years ‘Neurobake’, an event set up to raise money for local Neurology charity Neurocare.
Running nationwide since 1991, the Macmillan coffee morning has raised over £113million for cancer support since its conception, and over £1million so far this year. All of the money raised is used by the charity to fund support for those affected with cancer across the United Kingdom, in order to make sure no one faces cancer alone.
If you’re interested in hosting a coffee morning, or want to make a charitable donation, go to the Macmillan Coffee Morning website in order to find out more.
