Cost of Living on the Moon is the Topic of New and Fascinating Infographic from Buddy Loans

(MoneyNewsWire.Net, July 03, 2014 )
London, UK -- Buddy Loans, a professional guarantor loan company based in the UK, has just released an interesting and educational infographic that shows the cost of living on the moon for one year. The fascinating infographic was created in honor of the 45th anniversary of the moon landing.

As a company spokesperson explained, some people believe that the next “giant leap for mankind” will involve the colonization of our closest celestial neighbor. For those who are thinking about one day trading in their vehicle for a spaceship to the moon, the new infographic provides some important information about how costly such a venture would be.

For example, because the moon has one of the most hostile environments in the solar system, it would take quite a bit of money and effort to make it suitable for human life. As the infographic notes, people who live on the moon would need a shelter that would be able to withstand the force of small meteorites hitting it, as well as the extremes in lunar temperature and the health hazards of radiation from solar flares. According to the infographic, it would cost about $7.35 billion dollars a year to operate a 4-person lunar base, or $456 million annually for 6 people to rent a suitable living space on a modified Bigelow BA 330-MDS.

Of course, moon dwellers will need to eat and drink while they are living in space, and since there are no grocery stores or vending machines on the moon, it will take some extra cost and effort to make sure nobody starves to death. As the infographic notes, two lunar greenhouses could produce enough food to feed a single person for a year; this would include lettuce, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and other veggies and fruit. The cost of purchasing and getting the greenhouses and fertilizer to the moon ranges from $1.7 billion to $5.9 billion, depending on how they are transported.

As for providing water for the humans and plants, the infographic estimates the cost of shipping and storing enough H2O for the year would run anywhere from $13 billion to $43 billion.

Anybody who would like to learn more about Buddy Loans is welcome to visit the company’s website; there, they can read about their services and well as check out the new thought-provoking infographic in its entirety.
