Los Angeles, Ca -- When Stephen Pewter’s grandson gave him his first computer ever as a birthday gift in May, 2012, he had no idea that within a year he would learn how to build a website from scratch, and create one of the most successful Medicare supplemental insurance comparison sites that is currently on the Internet.

“One day I was searching for supplemental insurance for my wife and me,” Stephen said, adding that although he did find a few sites that offered quotes, they wanted him to enter all sorts of personal information.
“Well, that just made me uncomfortable; I didn't understand why I had to give my credit card number just to get an insurance quote. My father always told me when you want something done right you have to do it yourself, so I started doing research to create a website that could provide Medicare supplemental insurance quotes with just a zip code.”
Thanks to a combination of a can-do attitude and a bit of proverbial blood, sweat and tears, Stephen was able to get a hold of the biggest database of reputable Medicare supplemental insurance companies in the United States. He learned how to successfully link the list with software that he created that gathers quotes in a certain area of the country based on zip code.
Stephen launched his website out in January of 2013, and within days, he was completely thunderstruck by the response.
“At first I simply wanted to create this website for my friends and family but it grew so fast, and thousands of people started visiting it—I just couldn’t believe it,” Stephen said.
“It's amazing how many people out there really needed a good website like this. I’m still in shock with how many visits it gets each day. My granddaughter has asked me to build her a website for her babysitting services business. I said ‘Honey, shouldn’t you be building me a website?’"
As business owners know quite well, it can be incredibly difficult to drive traffic to a website. But despite his immense success and the fact that 40,000 visitors came to his site in the first month, Stephen remains humble about his success.
“I would like to say that it was my brilliant business sense that created my Medicare site, but I just got lucky. I found the right resources at the right time and when the website finally launched it spread by word-of-mouth. I still can't believe it has become this popular. The Internet is pretty neat.”
